Scholarship for Indigenous Students Attending Flinders University for Education Placement in 2022

Flinders University is a public institution located in Adelaide, South Australia. The university is now accepting applications from qualified candidates prepared to participate in its continuing 2022 Scholarship program. It was established in 1966, and the name Matthew Flinders was chosen to commemorate the explorer and surveyor Matthew Flinders, who worked in the early 19th century along the coast of South Australia. It holds the 43rd spot in the whole of Asia Pacific and is regarded as one of the top 2% of colleges in the entire globe. Benefits of Indigenous Education Placement Scholarship

The scholarship has a potential value of up to $5,000 and will be paid in a single lump sum prior to the beginning of the placement*. The scholarship is meant to assist with costs related with the placement, including but not limited to lodging, transportation, and general living expenditures. Additionally, it may compensate for the loss of income as well as the costs associated with continuing to live in their regular residence throughout the semester. Those who get the scholarship but do not participate in the rural or distant placement will be required to give back the money they received. *The amount that a student receives may be lowered if they are also receiving another scholarship for the same placement.

Requirements for Indigenous Education Placement Scholarship Qualification

• be accepted as an Australian Aboriginal or Torres Strait Islander by the community in which they live or have lived; • identify as an Australian Aboriginal or Torres Strait Islander; and • be of Australian Aboriginal or Torres Strait Islander descent; and • identify as an Australian Aboriginal or Torres Strait Islander; and • be approved as an Australian Aboriginal or Torres Strait Islander by the community in which they live or have lived; and • be able to enroll in a Bachelor of Education degree at Students who have already completed their placement requirements for the internship will not have their applications considered.

Interview date, Process and Venue for Indigenous Education Placement Scholarship

Scholarships will be granted on the following criteria: academic merit; the extent to which the scholarships will alleviate financial hardship caused by the placement; the commitment of the student to undertaking a regional or rural placement as demonstrated by their responses to selection criteria questions; and the extent to which the applicant can contribute to the school and the broader community as a result of this placement. The selection of the applicant (or candidates) shall be carried out in line with the processes authorized by the Director of Student Administration in conjunction with the Office of Indigenous Strategy and Engagement.
